Founded in 1891, the Dorset Horn Sheep Breeders' Association was created with a mission to promote Dorset Horn Sheep breeding globally and maintain the breed's integrity. The landscape shifted in the late 1950s with the introduction of hornless Dorset sheep from Australia, swiftly gaining favor in the UK. By 1974, the number of registered Poll Dorsets surpassed Dorset Horns, leading to a pivotal change in 1981: the association adopted a new name, becoming the Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset Sheep Breeders' Association.

BREED BROCHURE 2025

The 2025 breed brochure showcases highlights from 2024, industry insights, and breeder advertisements. Looking ahead, 2025 will feature numerous shows with Dorset classes and multiple society sales, including Mayfair, Worcester, Carlisle, and Melton Mowbray. Support for these events is invaluable.

In 2024, over 30 new flocks joined the society, and members are encouraged to participate in shows, sales, and events—valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and sharing knowledge. The breed council continues to expand promotion efforts through shows, sales, and national publications, welcoming ideas and input from members.
